The Kensington School was founded in 2010 to provide a safe, nurturing and developmentally appropriate environment for infant, toddler and pre-school age children. The Kensington School's focus is to provide a stimulating early care and educational experience which promotes each child's social/emotional, physical and cognitive development, supporting children’s desire to be life-long learners.
Our curriculum is based on guided-self discovery with a strong emphasis on social interaction. We believe that a child’s play is his/her work and that the best learning will occur in a carefully constructed environment to promote new learning experiences. Your child’s preschool experience will include activities designed to develop pre-reading and pre-writing skills, science discoveries, arts and crafts, stretching and yoga, baby massage, music and rhythm, circle time and much more. Each day your child will introduced to traditional early childhood learning skills including counting, numbers, the alphabet, sensory, seasons, weather, manners, nursery rhymes, imagination sharing, developing fine motor skills and early social development.
Our teachers are dedicated to educating young children -- socially, physically, emotionally and intellectually and provide creative, energetic, interactive and developmentally enriching curriculum. All teachers at The Kensington School are CPR and First Aid Certified and have passed all background and criminal checks. We believe that growth and learning is important at any stage of life and encourage our teachers and staff to continue their education through degree programs and continuing education classes.
The Kensington School is active participant of Virginia Quality. By voluntarily participating in Virginia Quality, we show our staff, families, and community that they are committed to quality for young children. The Kensington School is also a member of The Virginia Infant and Toddler Network.
